Join us each month at the Westerville Public Library - President's Message
Dear WAL Members,
Hello everyone! I hope everyone is safe and snug during this crazy winter weather we are having. Personally, I love the snow and particularly the heavy snow that is sticking to the trees and bushes. Nature photographers must love all the photo opportunities right now. Upcoming Speakers: I am pleased to announce that I have locked down the presenters for the remainder of the year. Below is a list of the upcoming speakers, more information on each to come soon: • February - Columbus Museum of Art • March - Jody Zill, jewelry and bead maker • April - Global Gallery • May - Franklin Park Conservatory Speaker Planning Committee At the January meeting I made the suggestion that we have a committee to plan the speakers for the year. I am very excited to share with you that I received an e-mail from Carol Fiorella that she and a group of five other WAL members are volunteering to be this committee. Those other individuals are: Arlene Adkins, Mary Saltz, Sandy Bloom, Carrol Wanner, and Vi Hendershot. Thank you so much for volunteering your time to put together the speakers for the 2010-2011 season. With you combined efforts, interests, and contacts, I’m sure it will be a very interesting year and I look forward to seeing who you deliver to us. Spring Show At our November meeting it was voted on and decided that our Annual Spring Show will be held at Gallery 202. More details to come very soon. 2010-2011 Officers Rather than waiting for the end of the year, I think now is the time to start thinking about the WAL officers for the next year. While it has been interesting being the president, I don’t know that I will be able to fill this role again next year. Beyond my full-time job, I am trying to build a business and find time to do my own artwork – something I haven’t done since last April. With the new Speaker Planning Committee, just taking that burden off the shoulders of the president might alleviate enough responsibility from this role that I would consider doing it again, but if someone else has been wanting to take the reins, I believe this is something that should be considered. Also, we really need someone to step up as the Secretary. This is definitely a topic to be explored at the next meeting. I look forward to seeing everyone in a couple of weeks. Kathy Wise
